Rabat – Adel Abdulrahman Al Asoomi, the Arab Parliament’s President, on Sunday praised Morocco’s advocacy for Palestinian rights, and the efforts it takes to preserve the legal status of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Al Asoomi met Morocco’s ambassador to Egypt and permanent representative of Morocco at the League of Arab States, Ahmed Tazi during a visit to Cairo.
The Bahraini politician expressed appreciation for King Mohamed VI’s stance with the Palestinian people, and the peoples’ resistance itself.
Morocco recently condemned violent acts carried out by Israel in Palestine, particularly in the West Bank and Al-Aqsa mosque. The North African country also summoned Israel’s Charge d’Affaires to reiterate the condemnation.

Israel has scaled up its violence against Palestinians over the past week, raiding Al-Aqsa Mosque several times and pushing out Muslim worshippers from its grounds.
Al Asoomi and Tazi also discussed parliamentary diplomacy potential between the Arab Parliament and its Moroccan counterpart, citing the Palestinian issue as one of the most important in the cooperation between the two.
Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita said that the violence in Al-Aqsa was a result of systemic practices, during a meeting between Arab ministers to discuss the developments in Palestine on Thursday.
Various Arab countries and international organizations have condemned Israel’s actions, calling for swift action by the international community to protect Palestinians’ rights.
