Rabat – Former Morocco international Jamal Alioui has been appointed to Crystal Palace’s new coaching staff for the 2026- 2027 season.
The Premier League club announced its new technical team on Friday. French coach Pierre Sage will lead the team. Alioui joins the staff alongside Damien Della Santa and Sandy Guichard. Paddy McCarthy will serve as assistant coach, while Andy Quy will continue as goalkeeping coach.
Alioui arrives at Crystal Palace after several successful years working with Sage in France. The two worked together at Olympique Lyon during the 2024-25 season, helping the club enjoy one of its best campaigns in recent years. They then moved to Lens, where they won the 2025-26 Coupe de France and finished second in Ligue 1.
Alioui began his coaching career in 2017 as an assistant coach at French club Misérieux-Trévoux. He later managed Bron and Vaulx-en-Velin before joining Morocco’s Under-20 national team coaching staff in 2020. His first role as a head coach came with GOAL FC in the 2021-22 season. He also worked as an assistant coach at Nancy and Versailles before reuniting with Sage.
Before becoming a coach, Alioui enjoyed a long playing career. He came through the Olympique Lyon academy before playing for several clubs across Europe and the Middle East, including Perugia, Catania, Crotone, Metz, Sion, Karabükspor, Wydad Casablanca, Al Kharaitiyat, Nantes, and Chasselay.
The former defender retired from professional football in 2016 and moved into coaching. His appointment at Crystal Palace marks the first time he will work in the English Premier League.
