Rabat – Eid Al Fitr 2022 in Oman is likely to take place on Monday, May 2.

News outlet Maqalaty reported earlier this week that astronomy calculations show that Eid Al Fitr is expected to fall on May 2 in the country.

Mojaz News said that the country will confirm the official day of Eid Al Fitr after the crescent moon sighting expected on Saturday, April 3.

The news outlet added that festivals and celebrations of Eid Al Fitr in 2022 will continue for four days.

Like all Muslims across the world, families in Oman start the celebration by performing Salat al-Eid or Eid prayers.

Families then gather around the breakfast table and exchange gifts.

Public streets in Oman also play host to entertainment activities for children. Some young people decorate streets and houses as part of the celebration.

The Times of Oman quoted the Muscat Municipality, which announced that Parks in Muscat will be opened during Eid Al Fitr holidays from 9 a.m. to midnight.

Several countries in the Gulf are expected to celebrate Eid Al Fitr on Saturday, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar.

Morocco is also set to celebrate Eid Al Fitr on May 2. All ministries of Islamic Affairs across the world will assign lunar sighting committees to confirm the official date of Eid Al Fitr over the weekend.

Other countries, however, including India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh are expected to celebrate Eid on May 3.
