Rabat – Morocco’s Bank of Africa (BOA), and Casablanca business school the ISCAE Group announced on Friday, April 8 the opening of applications for startups to join the “BlueSpace” incubator.

Bank of Africa and ISCAE opened the applications during a ceremony in Casablanca.

BlueSpace is located on the ISCAE Casablanca campus, offering students and entrepreneurs tools to help them develop their business ideas.

“The inauguration of BlueSpace reflects a partnership between two institutions, each a master in their own domain with the aim to contribute to the economic and social development of Morocco and Africa,” Nada Biaz, General Director of ISCAE Group said.

Born out of a joint venture between public and private sector players, BlueSpace comprises two structures. The first structure targets students, and the second is budding business people.

Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour also attended the event.

BlueSpace hopes to launch 15 business ventures annually and will offer ISCAE students and business makers the chance to draw on ISCAE and BOA’s expertise to launch successful projects, Mezzour told reporters during the event.

The startup incubator is exceptional as it represents the first collaboration between a Moroccan banking group and one of Africa’s best business schools, aiming to support business makers, he added.

Building bridges between education and the business landscape has been the primary concern of ISCAE since its creation by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Biaz also said.

The idea behind BlueSpace reflects the Bank of Aftica’s willingness to offer business makers the necessary support to successfully launch their startups, Mamoun Tahri-Joutei, director of Bank of Africa’s economic intelligence center told Morocco’s News Agency (MAP).

Our aim is to allow young Moroccans to contribute to the development of the country by creating value and generating jobs, he added.
