Rabat – The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has listed Morocco among the countries with low COVID-19 risk for travel.
CDC’s data features Morocco among countries labeled in yellow but is still warning travelers to be fully vaccinated before traveling to the North African country.
“Even if you are up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines, you may still be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19,” the US CDC said.
The center also recommends that anyone aged two years or above should wear a facemask in public spaces.
CDC lists countries either in gray, amber or red to reflect the epidemiological situation in each country.
Several North African countries are labeled either gray or red. The gray color stipulates that the country’s epidemiological situation is unknown, while red indicates high-COVID-19 risk.
CDC lists Algeria in the “level unknown” category, recommending travelers to not visit the country.
If travelers must visit the North African country, they have to “make sure “ they are vaccinated and up to date with COVID-149 vaccines before travel.
Meanwhile, CDC lists Tunisia under the red label with a “very high” COVID-19 risk.
Morocco has recently been reporting fewer COVID-19 cases and deaths compared to last year and earlier in 2022.
On Wednesday, the North African country reported 70 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours and 0 deaths.
People who recovered from the virus reached 54 in 24 hours.
To date, active COVID-19 cases stand at 723.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak in Morocco in March 2020, Morocco has reported 1,163,726 COVID-19 cases, including 16,061 deaths, and 1,146,942 recoveries.
