Rabat – The Global Foundation for Peace through Soccer, a US-based non-profit, has announced the signing of an accord with two Moroccan football (soccer) clubs to launch a joint summer camp.
Signed with Nahda and March, two youth soccer associations in the Moroccan city of Marrakech, the initiative is in line with the Global Foundation’s philosophy of promoting diplomacy through soccer, according to converging news reports.
Launched under the name “Moroccan Voices,” the camp aims to support underprivileged and socially challenged youth who are fond of soccer.
Through the camp, the Global Foundation for Peace through Soccer is pledging to deliver professional-grade training and orientation free of charge to aspiring Moroccan youth.
In addition to football training, the foundation hopes to pass on valuable peace-building skills and encourage young people to avoid violence and increase their self-esteem.
The camp will open its door to young people from July 18th to July 21st in Marrakech.
The Moroccan Voices initiative is launched in association with the US Embassy in Morocco and the United States Department of State.
With this initiative, the foundation aims to work with local Moroccan leaders, coaches, and educators to teach skills relevant to high-level soccer through extensive professional training programs.
As the camps are a wider initiative to empower youth and combat violence and radicalism, the foundation says it is especially looking to establish positive washback from the program by launching online multimedia programs and shows.
