OCP Launches ‘T@swiq’ Platform to Boost Morocco’s Agricultural Ecosystem

Rabat – Morocco’s phosphate and fertilizer giant OCP Group continues its commitment to help farmers increase their yields and annual income by launching “T@swiq,” a mobile application aimed at linking farmers to a broader market to strengthen the supply chain.

Launched through OCP’s Al Moutmir initiative, the platform focuses on selling and buying agricultural products while reducing logistic costs and increasing farmers’ profit margins.

Young developers from Morocco’s coding school 1337, the Kingdom’s first open and free IT training school, designed the new digital solution.

1337 has recently ranked 5th worldwide and 1st in Africa in the CodinGame Spring Challenge 2022.

“Developed with farmers and for farmers, T@swiq aims to connect all farmers to a wider market, encourage short supply chains, and facilitate the marketing of agricultural products and services,” OCP said in a statement.

The platform could also serve as a bridge connecting potential buyers, such as supermarkets, the agri-food industry, and hotel and restaurant chains, to the various agricultural producers.

With an ambition to work alongside the agricultural ecosystem, the Moroccan platform’s mission parallels Al Moutmir’s goal to respond to the emerging challenges farmers face.

To ensure the sustainability of Morocco’s agricultural sector, the Al Moutmir program relies on the scientific approach as a key driver of prosperous and sustainable productivity.

The application also includes the rental and sale of agricultural land, a service that enables both farmers and investors to find the agricultural land best suited to their activity.

The service further allows breeders to market their livestock across Morocco, where potential buyers can choose the breeds and origins of the herd. Another feature of the app facilitates the sale and purchase of seedlings and agricultural inputs from various nursery farmers.

Amid several drought and climate-related challenges that have impacted farmers’  productivity, OCP Group seeks to empower rural farmers and boost the agricultural ecosystem in Morocco.
