Fez – Moroccan international Munir Mohamedi has joined Saudi Arabia’s Al Wehda Club on a two-year contract, ending weeks of speculation about his future.

The Saudi club announced the official signing today on its Twitter account, presenting the Moroccan goalkeeper as the club’s new arrival for this transfer window.

“Munir Mohamedi has joined our team. The “Spider’s” contract runs until 2024,” the club’s official account captioned as it celebrated the transfer.

The news of the transfer of the renowned Moroccan goalkeeper was well received among  Al Wehda Club fans as they aspired that the Moroccan keeper would build on his past successes and show his caliber with the club.

Ahead of his now sealed transfer to the Saudi Arabian club, several reports made speculations about Mohamedi’s future, linking him with prominent clubs in the Gulf countries.

Earlier this week, Saudi news outlet Alyaum reported that the 33-year-old goalkeeper is close to joining Saudi football club Al Ettifaq.

The news outlet noted that the club is in dire need of a goalkeeper with Mohamedi’s profile, especially since the club’s management doesn’t intend to renew Algerian goalkeeper Rais M’Bolhi’s contract, which is due to expire this summer.

But Al Wehda Club, having worked in silence to convince the Moroccan goalkeeper to join their forces, has eventually sealed the deal.

Mohamedi recently concluded his contract with his former club Hatayspor in Turkey after two seasons.

Throughout his footballing career, he played for renowned clubs in Europe such as Malaga CF.

With Morocco’s football team, Mohamedi has consistently made remarkable performances, emerging as one of the architects of Morocco’s Atlas Lions World Cup qualification.
