Rabat – Saudi football club Al Ettifaq aims to sign Moroccan international football player Munir Mohamedi.

Saudi news outlet Alyaum reported that the club’s management is searching for a replacement for Algerian goalkeeper Rais M’Bolhi, whose contract with Al Ettifaq will expire at the end of the season.

According to the news outlet, the club’s management is not willing to renew the contract with the Algerian international.

Al Yaum added that management has expressed an interest in signing a contract with Munir Mohamedi.

Munir Mohamedi recently concluded his contract with his former club Hatayspor in Turkey.

In May, the club announced the news, saying the decision came by mutual agreement.

The Moroccan football player joined the Turkish club in 2020 from Malaga. With the Turkish club, the football player participated in 37 Super League matches over the previous season.

Mohamedi has been one of the key football players on Morocco’s national football team.

The footballer’s name has long featured among the list of players called up for important competitions locally and internationally.

Mohamedi was part of the squad that took place in the 2018 World Cup.

In 2020, Mohamedi earned the 2019-2020 Zamora Trophy when he played for Spanish side Malaga.

In all of his 38 games with the Spanish club, the Moroccan player conceded only 29 goals, marking an average of 0.76 per game. The number represented the lowest among all goalkeepers in La Liga 2.
