Rabat – Moroccan star footballer Hakim Ziyech could be headed for Manchester United after weeks of speculation over a possible AC Milan move. British media have reported that Manchester United management is preparing a bid for the Moroccan winger who has struggled to earn a regular starting spot at London-based Chelsea Football Club.
Earlier rumors of a potential Manchester move were overshadowed by speculation about a pending move to AC Milan for the 29-year old Moroccan attacking midfielder. However, the Moroccan newspaper Le Matin reported that AC Milan saw Ziyech salary demands as a possible stumbling block that endangered the Moroccan’s move to the northern Italian club.
The delay in a possible AC Milan move has reawakened speculation in British media that Ziyech could soon be reunited with his former Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag. Ziyech produced his best performances in his career under the Dutch coach at Ajax Amsterdam, and Ten Hag is expected to further bolster his attacking line in the coming weeks.
Ten Hag has already attracted former Ajax star Christian Eriksen to Old Trafford, and British football commentators are seeing Ziyech as the next likely target. Football journalist Dean Jones told the online publication GiveMeSport that “the Ziyech move to AC Milan has stuttered a little and if that situation drags on let’s not rule out the idea that Ten Hag looks to take him to United instead.”
While no Manchester United official has confirmed the rumors, British newspaper the Mirror reported earlier today that the club is “eyeing” a Ziyech move in an effort to deepen its squad and be a top four contender in the upcoming Premier League season.
