Rabat – Vahid Halilhodzich, the head coach of Morocco’s national football team, has been ranked as the 19th highest-paid coach in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, with an annual salary of €920,000 (MAD 9.5 million).
A recent report by Finance Football revealed the annual salaries of the head coaches of the 32 national teams that will participate in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Germany’s coach Hans-Dieter Flick led the ranking with an annual salary of €6.5 million (MAD 67.7 million), followed by England’s Gareth Southgate and France’s Didier Deschamps with a salary of €5.8 million (MAD 60.4 million) and €3.8 million (MAD 39.5 million) respectively.
Herve Renard, Saudi Arabia’s head coach and former coach of Morocco’s Atlas Lions, ranked 17th with an annual salary of €1.1 million (MAD 11.4 million).
The coach of the host country Qatar, Felix Sanchez Bas, came eighth with an annual salary of €2.4 million (MAD 25 million).

At the bottom of the list is Jalel Kadri, the coach of Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles, with an annual salary of €130.000 (MAD 1.3 million).
Due to the scorching temperatures in Qatar, the 2022 World Cup will take place in winter, between November 21 and December 18, instead of the usual summer months.
Halilhodzic has in recent months faced massive backlash and criticism from football fans over the Atlas Lions’ poor performances, with many calling for the coach’s dismissal before the World Cup.
In response to the fierce online campaign against him, the French-Bosnian coach refuted rumors of his potential dismissal and criticized the Moroccan media’s “unjustifiable” campaign against him.
