Raja Casablanca has placed Hicham Aboucherouane in interim charge as the head coach of the club after the dismissal of Fadlu Davids, with the Green Eagles now in search of a permanent successor after a disappointing run of results.
Aboucherouane takes charge after Fadlu’s sacking. The decision comes after a series of poor results by Davids, the latest being against Renaissance Berkane and Kawkab Marrakech, making the title run an impossible task for the Eagles.
The decision also included terminating the duties of sporting director Sebastian Soumakal, following a comprehensive evaluation of the technical staff’s performance, marked by a lack of conviction regarding their continued presence at the club.
Raja‘s management has begun a series of meetings and contacts with a number of coaches, both from Morocco and abroad, to select the most suitable candidate to lead the team during the next stage.
Club officials are working quickly to decide on the identity of the new coach, in preparation for the upcoming matches, most notably the clash against Ittihad Touarga at the Mohammed V Complex.
In the meantime, coach Aboucherouane is temporarily leading the training of the first team, until a new coach is officially assigned.
This decision comes directly after the 2-0 defeat against Kawkab Marrakech in a match played as part of the 23rd round of the professional championship
Raja Casablanca stands fifth in the Botola standings with 42 points, four points behind Renaissance Berkane, three points behind Maghreb Fez and AS FAR, and only one point behind Wydad Casablanca, who are in fourth place.
