Rabat – In a series of videos and livestreams, a Moroccan vlogger living in Turkey has pleaded for legal and social support after accusing her Turkish husband of physically and sexually abusing her and denying her financial independence.

Frustrated with her husband’s recurring abuse, the vlogger, known by the name “Ghizou,” attempted suicide during an Instagram livestream.

Prior to the failed suicide attempt, the vlogger recounted in detail the “injustice” and “abuse” she has faced as a “Moroccan woman living in a foreign country.” “The Turkish justice system would not serve me justice,” she said.

Ghizou said that Turkish authorities arrested her and treated her poorly after she had reported her husband for domestic abuse. The authorities have also threatened to take away her daughters and send her back to Morocco, Ghizou added.

In the videos, Ghizou’s face was covered in scars and bruises.

“I live in fear, I am afraid I will kill myself and my daughters,” Ghizou said in her latest livestream on Instagram, pleading for Moroccans to help her “take her rights.”

“I live in a state of terror and paranoia,” she said, claiming that she receives constant threats from her husband and his friends.

Ghizou’s plea stirred outrage and condemnation among Moroccan internet users who expressed their solidarity and support for Ghizou.

The Moroccan vlogger is calling on Morocco’s consulate in Turkey to intervene and provide her with legal help.

The Moroccan woman also accused her husband of stealing MAD 40 million (nearly $4 million) from her and seizing control of her two businesses.

Born in Morocco, Ghizou grew up an orphan and experienced a difficult childhood, she said, adding that she moved to Turkey in search of a better life.

She has one daughter with her current partner of three years and another daughter from a previous marriage.

Morocco World News reached out to Morocco’s embassy in Turkey for comments but received no response.
