Saudi Arabia’s Low-Cost Airline Flynas Launches Direct Flights to Casablanca

Rabat – The Riyadh-based low-cost carrier Flynas has signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Air Connectivity Program to launch new and direct flights to Casablanca, Algiers, Marseille, and Almaty.

Flynas took to LinkedIn on August 22 to announce the news, saying: “Starting from November, there will be…three weekly flights to Casablanca within the Kingdom of Morocco.”

Additional weekly flights are set to connect Jeddah to the southern French city of Marseille and Kazakhstan’s ancient capital Almaty twice per week. Meanwhile, Jeddah-Algiers flights are scheduled three times per week.

Welcoming the partnership with the Air Connectivity Program, Bander Almohanna, CEO and Managing Director of Flynas, said that the agreement is in line with the airline’s growth strategy that seeks to expand the company’s networks to 165 domestic and international destinations.

For his part,  Khalil Lamrabet, the  CEO of the Air Connectivity Program, said: “The program values this partnership with Flynas, which contributes to facilitating the travel of the Kingdom’s guests from Marseille, Almaty, Algiers, and Casablanca, in line with our mandate to develop tourism air connectivity in support of the National Tourism Strategy vision and objectives.”

The program aims to develop Saudi Arabia’s aviation and tourism sector by connecting the Kingdom to over 250 international destinations by 2030 to facilitate the travel of tourists, pilgrims, and Umrah performers.

This year, more than one million Muslims performed the annual pilgrimage (Hajj) to Mecca and Medina following a two-year COVID hiatus. Out of the total, 15,392 Moroccan pilgrims visited the holy sites in July.

Earlier in March, Saudi Arabia lifted precautionary measures for visiting the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. The country further mobilized 10,000 workers to assist pilgrims throughout their stay.
