Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced on Monday that Eid Al Mawlid (the feast of the birth of Prophet Muhammad) will be celebrated on October 9.
The ministry announced the non-sighting of the lunar crescent. The 1st of Rabi Al Awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar will correspond to September 28.
Muslims across the world celebrate Eid Al Mawlid, an Islamic holiday. The occasion marks the day of birth of the prophet Muhammed.
Moroccans celebrate the occasion by following local customs, including serving traditional food, and family visits, as well as holding religiously inspired rituals such as Quran reciting.
Last year, the North African country celebrated Eid Al Mawlid on October 19 in 2021.
