Rabat – As the vegan and vegetarian communities in Morocco grow, the National Association of Vegans in Morocco is organizing its fourth edition of Veg’Fest Morocco, bringing together the local and global vegan community to promote a vegan and “animal-friendly” lifestyle.
Organized in partnership with Generation Vegan and VegFund, the festival is taking place at the University of Sidi Mohamed ben Abdellah’s Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in the city of Fez on October 15 and 16.
The event “promotes the acceptance of a healthy, responsible and animal-friendly lifestyle that contributes to the preservation of the environment,” said the organizers in a press release.
Veg’Fest Morocco 2022 seeks to raise public awareness and allow vegan speakers to discuss a wide range of issues relating to health, ecology, and the ethics of animal treatment, the statement indicated.

Speakers throughout the two-day event will include doctors, nutritionists, environmentalists, as well as activists, and representatives of environmental and animal associations.

The event is set to host representatives from several countries besides Morocco such as Palestine, Spain, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
VegFest Morocco is promising a wide variety of activities, including lectures, yoga and meditation sessions, as well as culinary workshops “led by chefs and experts in the field,” the statement added.

The festival is also set to honor the Palestinian Animal League, under the slogan “Together for Peace.”
Veg’Fest is “known as one of the most important and famous vegan festivals in the world,” the organizers said, adding that the first edition of the Moroccan version was the first of its kind in the MENA region.
In 2021, the festival received the Best Global Initiative award from VegFest UK, as well as a nomination for the Best Vegan Project award.

Since 2017, Veg Morocco has been working towards raising awareness about veganism in the Arab world.
The event organizers said that they launched several initiatives, including feeding street animals, strengthening Morocco’s vegan networks, and distributing vegetarian meals in several Moroccan cities.
