Rabat – Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced on Monday that it received security equipment from Germany.
DGSN said that the “modern equipment” will be used to reinforce border police work and to develop “control mechanisms” at the level of air border posts.
The delivery of the equipment comes on the same day Germany and Morocco announced an agreement to expand security cooperation against organized crimes, including terrorism, human trafficking, cybercrimes, and fraud.
DGSN said that the countries set up a joint committee, composed of the International Police Cooperation Center at the DGSN and liaison offices assigned to the German Embassy in Rabat.
“This committee was created for the implementation of the recommendations discussed during the meeting between the Moroccan Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST) and the President of the German Federal Police on June 10 in Morocco,” DGSN said.
Under the agreement, Germany and Morocco will also boost cooperation in terms of technical assistance, including the transfer of technology and police equipment to develop expertise through training.
The agreement is part of Morocco’s approach to reinforce cooperation with all international partners in a bid to mitigate security threats and ensure regional peace through shared responsibility.
