Rabat – The Asian Tour’s International Series will make its North African debut at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat from November 3 to 6.
The Asian Tour is the official sanctioning body for professional golf in Asia, and organizes tournaments for professional men golfers all over the world.
The organizers expressed their enthusiasm for the International Series Morocco, they said that Morocco has a “rich golfing pedigree,’’ and has been a “regular fixture on the globalgolfing calendar for the past two decades, hosting numerous international golfing events.”
The International Series Morocco, which offers a $1.5 million (MAD 16.5 million) prize pool, is important in determining both “the winner of the International Series money list” and “the Asian Tour Order of Merit champion,” reported the Asian Tour’s official website.
Cho Minn Thant, Commissioner and CEO of the Asian Tour said “This has been an unprecedented season and we are delighted to be able to announce exciting news about the Asian Tour’s first visit to North Africa.’’
The high-profile International Series was launched earlier this year as a result of a partnership between the Asian Tour and LIV Golf to revitalize the game in Asia and the Middle East.
The renowned Moroccan golf tournament Hassan II Trophy, which takes place at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat, was canceled for two years in a row due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Lalla Meryem Cup, a women’s golf competition scheduled to take place on the same dates, was also postponed.
This year’s Asian Tour at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam marks a historic and significant step in Morocco’s golf calendar. Golf enthusiasts will especially be thrilled as the event’s admission is free for spectators.
