Rabat – French electronic record producer, composer, and DJ Sebastian Devaud, also known by his stage name Agoria, said that Morocco’s electronic music scene is growing in an interview with French outlet Le Matin.

DJ Agoria performed in several festivals in Morocco, including Oasis: Into The Wild festival in Dakhla and Lost Nomads festival in Agafay.

In the interview, he said: “I’ve been performing in Morocco for the last six months, and every time I’ve been there, I’ve realized how knowledgeable the Moroccan public is about electronic music. I think Morocco is becoming a real Eldorado for electronic music artists.’’

Agoria also mentioned Morocco’s ambassador for electronic music, Amine K, describing him as a Moroccan legend whose work he greatly admires.

“We are witnessing an incredible evolution of the Moroccan scene over the last few years,” the artist continued. “The events dedicated to electronic music are multiplying , and the public’s enthusiasm is palpable.”

Recalling the Into The Wild Festival, he said that he was so “hypnotized” by Moroccan music that his driver was playing that he didn’t even notice the passing of time.

DJ Agoria has released several albums including “Blossom,” and “Impermanence,” as well as movie soundtracks. He is also the co-founder of the record label InFiné and a contributor to the music festival Nuits Sonores.

Morocco is home to several music festivals. Earlier this year, National Geographic highlighted Morocco’s music scene with a ranking of the country’s six best music festivals.

The festivals listed in the ranking were the Transahara Festival, Rabat’s Mawazine Festival, Fez’s World Sacred Music Festival, Essaouira’s Gnawa World Music Festival, Oasis Festival, and Casablanca’s Jazzablanca Festival.
