Rabat – Moroccan international football player Amine Harit received warm support from his teammates and coach at Olympique Marseille following a serious injury on Sunday.
Harit suffered a serious knee injury during a match against Monaco on Sunday evening.
The injury happened during a contact with Monaco defender Axel Disasi at the 58th minute of the game.
Olympique Marseille head coach Igor Tudor commented on the player’s injury, describing it as “very serious.”
“He got injured just before the World Cup, we have been talking about the [competition] all week, I’m very sad,” the coach said.
Harit’s teammate Matteo Guendouzi expressed compassion for Harit, saying that the team was saddened by his injury.
“It seems to me to be a bit serious,” he said, stressing that Harit’s dream to play with Morocco’s national team in the World Cup in Qatar is now unlikely.
Olympique Marseille’s Jordan Veretout also commented on the incident, dedicating the club’s win on Sunday to Harit.
“He went to the hospital, it’s a very difficult moment for him, we are all behind him,” he said, saying that Harit seemed sad and worried following the injury.
Harit is now unlikely to participate in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, which is set to begin on November 20.
Morocco’s head coach Walid Regragui named Harit on his list of 26 players summoned to play in the competition last week on Thursday.
The Atlas Lions’ first World Cup match will be against Croatia on November 23. On November 27, they will play against Belgium, with their game against Canada taking place on December 1.
