Rabat – Morocco’s General Directorates of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST) and the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police in the UAE will launch on Monday the implementation of the first phases of a bilateral program aimed at boosting cooperation in exchange of expertise in the security field.

A statement from DGSN said that the framework of bilateral cooperation between the two security units in Morocco and the UAE will include the implementation of a program seeking to increase the exchange of visits between security officials to share experiences in various policing fields.

The cooperation agreement also includes the implementation of joint courses on training related to combating crime, maintaining public order, and improving the role of science and technology in the security field.

Under the programs, the DGST will offer training courses in different areas, including intelligence. The training will benefit a group of security units from the Abu Dhabi Police. The courses plan to include training on combatting terrorist organizations and transitional crime.

On Monday, the Royal Police Institute will host over a period of two months a theoretical training course in the field of judicial police and fighting crime. The training period will start today.

Applied training with central and concentrated personnel affiliated with different security units in Morocco, including the National Judicial Police Brigade and the National Laboratory of Scientific and Technical Police will also be part of the program.

DGSN concluded its statement emphasizing that the partnership program reflects the mutual willingness to tighten Morocco-UAE cooperation in different fields, including security to “ensure the reinforcing of security of the two countries and the safety of their citizens.”

The launch of the cooperation program came a few months after the visit of Staff Major General Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei of Abu Dhabi to Morocco in October.

During his visit, Al Mazrouei met with Head of DGSN-DGST Abdellatif Hammouchi. The meeting served as an opportunity to discuss the existing cooperation between the two countries and aimed to further boost collaboration to tackle regional threats.
