Rabat – India has reiterated interest in strengthening cooperation with Morocco, eyeing new investment opportunities in climate change, renewable energy, food security, and capacity building.
Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Leila Benali reviewed prospects of bilateral cooperation during a meeting with Secretary of India’s Foreign Ministry Ausaf Sayeed.
On Thursday, the Indian diplomat co-chaired the fifth India-Morocco Foreign Office consultation in Rabat. The meeting concluded with the renewal of commitment to expand and reinforce partnerships in different sectors.

In October, Morocco attended the 12th DefExpo in India’s Gujarat along with delegations from 36 African countries. The event explored potential areas of cooperation including counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, and maritime security.
A few days later, a delegation of five Moroccan startups visited India to learn from the blooming South Asian ecosystem.
Recent consultations and meetings between Moroccan and Indian officials underline the mutual interest in advancing win-win cooperation with both countries exchanging their respective resources and expertise.

The diplomatic gathering in Morocco coincided with the organization of a hackathon in the north Indian city of Noida in Uttar Pradesh. The hackathon has seen the participation of Indian and African students, teachers, and researchers interested in building technical skills.
The 36-hour “UNESCO-India-Africa hackathon,” organized by India’s Ministry of Education, sought to offer “unique opportunities to all participating African and guest countries and India to forward their economic development through collaboration in education, science, and technology,” the organizers said.
While Morocco is an exporter of fertilizers to India alongside Russia and China, India’s defense technology, startup ecosystem, and foreign investments represent significant growth opportunities for the Moroccan government and businesses.
