Rabat – Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi is currently on the list of the top-valued players in the FIFA 2022 World Cup, according to data from the Football Observatory.
Data from the observatory indicated that Hakimi’s transfer value stands at €80 million (MAD 886 million), placing him in 17th place among the most valued football players in the most prestigious competition.
Hakimi’s transfer value is even more impressive given that the transfer value of all Moroccan players on the national team stands at €315 million ($326 million).
In June of 2022, the PSG right-back ranked as Africa’s most expensive player, according to the International Center for Sports Studies (CIES).
Hakimi outperformed other world-class players such as British defensive midfielder Declan Rice and Sweden’s Dejan Kulusevski.
In the biannual list of the CIES Football Observatory, published last January, Achraf Hakimi’s transfer value was set at €108.2 million (MAD 1.2 billion). He was also the only African to feature in the ranking.
The Moroccan player is currently playing for PSG under a contract set to expire in 2026. PSG signed the young football player following an impressive 2020-2021 season in which he scored seven times with Inter Milan in Italy’s Serie A.
Born in Madrid to a Moroccan couple, the footballer made his senior league debut with Spanish football club Real Madrid in 2016.
Over the course of his career, Hakimi also played for Germany’s Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan, before moving to PSG.
