Rabat – Morocco will face Portugal in the 2022 World Cup’s quarter-finals after the European team beat their Swiss counterparts 6-1 at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar.
The match between Morocco and Portugal will take place on Saturday December 10, at 16:00 Moroccan time. The game will be played at the Al Thumama Stadium.
Portugal managed to easily defeat their Swiss counterparts 6-1 on Tuesday, in a match that saw a hat trick from Goncalo Ramos, who was playing for the first time for his national team.
Interestingly, footballing superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo did not star in Tuesday’s game. The player has been the topic of many rumors regarding a possible transfer to Saudi club Al-Nassr.
Morocco on the other hand made history when they defeated Spain in a penalty shootout, becoming the first Arab team to reach the quarter-finals, and only the fourth African team to do so.
Although Walid Regragui has already impressed and achieved Morocco’s best-ever result at the international competition, the team has made it clear that they intend to go into every game with a winning mentality.
If Morocco manages to get a win from Portugal, they stand to make history on multiple levels. In addition to becoming the first Moroccan team to achieve this, Hakim Ziyech and company would also be the first Arab and African team to reach the top four.
