Rabat – Hakim Ziyech’s eye-catching performances at the Qatar World Cup have attracted the interest of several elite European clubs, with Italy’s AC Milan reported to be willing to bag in €15 million to sign the Moroccan player.
According to Italian news outlet La Gazzetta Della Sport, AC Milan is considering a loan contract with Chelsea for Ziyech in January.
Under the contract Ziyech would play for AC Milan on loan before being signed permanently at the end of the 2022-2023 season, Football London reported.
Ziyech has impressed at the ongoing World Cup, leading many fans and observers to predict a move from Chelsea that would hand the playmaker the game time he needs to fully express his devastating prowess on the ball.
His ingenious distribution and comforting ball-keeping has been integral to Morocco’s historic qualification for the quarter-finals of the Qatar World Cup.
Prior to the global tournament, FIFA warned Morocco’s opponents of Ziyech’s technical gifts and game-changing potential.
“Ziyech’s performance will be key to achieving Morocco’s goals. Although he has lost playing time under Graham Potter at Chelsea, the tricky winger remains a key part of his country’s dreams,” FIFA wrote.
Morocco will play its quarterfinal match against Portugal on Saturday at 16:00 Moroccan time. The Atlas Lions finished the group stage unbeaten with two victories against Canada and Belgium and a goalless draw with Croatia.
In the round of 16, Morocco’s Atlas Lions defeated Spain 3-0 on penalties, making the country the first Arab and fourth African nation to reach the last 8 of the FIFA World Cup.
