Rabat – Azzedine Ounahi appears to be one of the most sought-after footballers in the European market, with observers reporting that the Moroccan midfielder’s eye-catching performances at the Qatar World Cup have landed him on the shopping list of a number of elite European clubs.

According to reports coming from Italian media, the British football club Leicester City has already tabled a proposal for the Moroccan midfielder.

Soon after reports of Leicester’s interest in the Moroccan player, Sevilla and Bayer Leverkusen also announced their wish to sign the versatile Moroccan playmaker. Italian club Napoli also features on the list of teams interested in securing Ounahi’s services.

Ounahi’s market value has markedly increased with his World Cup performances, going from €3.5 million in early November to  €15 million after the World Cup.

As he has indeed received multiple offers in the past few days, said Said Chabane, President of French club Angers, Ounahi’s current team, the creative midfielder will most likely leave Angers before the end of this season. “We have offers from everywhere: Italy, Spain, England, France. Our wish is to find an agreement in January,” Chabane said.

Reports of Leicester’s interest in Ounahi surfaced earlier this month, with the British club saying it was “ready” to offer  €45 million (MAD 501 million) to sign the Moroccan player.

“Leicester is ready to break the bank for Azzedine Ounahi,” L’Equipe reported earlier this month, stressing that the club might find it hard to retain the player after the interesting offer.

As elite European clubs continue to court Ounahi, the Angers president has been forced to admit that, while they would love to keep the Moroccan playmaker until the end of this season, the club is “ready for everything” as it will gradually become much harder to keep hold of the widely acclaimed midfielder.
