Rabat – Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita hosted on Monday the UAE Minister of Industry Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Jaber to discuss the need for deepening bilateral cooperation.
Al Jaber, who is the UAE special envoy for Climate Change and member of his country’s Council of ministers, arrived in Morocco as part of a visit seeking to boost partnership between the two countries at different levels, including industry and innovation.
The visit also comes as part of the UAE’s “prospect of hosting” the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), Morocco’s state news agency MAP reported.
This is Al Jaber’s second visit to Morocco in nine months, suggesting his county’s readiness to commit to the recently created Moroccan-Emirati working group to boost ties at various levels of cooperation, especially in trade, political dialogue, security, and technology.
During his earlier visit to Morocco in March of this year, the UAE official held several meetings with high-level officials, including Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, Bourita and Minister of Industry Ryad Mezzour.
Following that previous visit, Mezzour announced the UAE and Morocco‘s decision to create a joint working group to boost industrial partnership between the two countries.
The joint group aimed at exploring joint projects that could contribute to the creation of jobs in Morocco and the UAE, Mezzour concluded.
Morocco and the UAE enjoy good diplomatic relations that have been marked by the constant exchange of visits and dialogues to strengthen economic and diplomatic ties.
According to data from the website Trading Economics, Morocco’s imports from the UAE were at $512.62 million in 2020. Meanwhile, UAE imports from Morocco reached $151.79 million during the same year.
