Rabat – Morocco is confirmed as the official host of the FIFA Club World Cup 2022, which is set to  take place in early 2023.

FIFA confirmed Morocco as the host of the competition today.

“Confirmed. The FIFA Council has announced that Morocco will host the 2022 #ClubWC!” FIFA wrote on Twitter.

The news comes amid celebrations and growing recognition of Morocco’s passion for football proven by the country’s national team’s participation in the 2022 World Cup

The Moroccan national team made uplifting performances during the 2022 World Cup and has made history as the first African and Arab country to qualify for the semi-finals in the tournament’s history.

Morocco hosted the FIFA Club World Cup before in 2013-2014.

Morocco’s passion for football was reflected in football competitions that the North African country has previously hosted.

In July, Morocco hosted the Women African Cup of Nations also known as WAFCON in Morocco.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe recently commended the “distinguished” organization of the competition, emphasizing that WAFCON in Morocco shows that “we have the best football infrastructure in the world” in Morocco and in Africa.

Morocco also hopes to host the 2025  Men’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Moroccan state media, MAP cited a source close to Morocco’s Football Federation (FRMF) in October, confirming that Morocco intends to propose its candidacy to host Africa’s biggest professional sports event.
