Rabat – Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology (DMN) has issued a red-level weather alert forecasting strong and stormy rainfall in several provinces across Morocco from Friday to Sunday.
The weather office said that rainfall between 80 and 100 millimeters are expected to hit Chefchaouen, and the provinces of Larache Tetouan, Al Hoceima, and Ouzzane on Saturday from Friday until 10 a.m. on Saturday.
An orange level alert also forecasts strong rain between 40 and 90 millimeters in the Tangier-Asilah, Fahs Anjra, Taza, and Taounate provinces.
Rainfalls ranging between 30 and 45 millimeters will hit Kenitram Sidi Kacem, Moulay Yacoub, M’diq-Fnideq and Meknes.
Wind gusts between 50 and 70 kilometers per hour will hit north of Essaouira, Saiss, and the western countryside today and Saturday until 10 a.m.
Wind and rainfall ranging between 40 and 80 millimeters will also affect Tangier-Asilah, Fahs-Anjra, Chefchaouen, Larache, Tetouan, and Ouazzane on Sunday from 1 a.m. until 8 p.m.
DMN issued several weather alerts, notifying citizens about rainfall that hit several provinces including Rabat-Sale, and the surrounding cities and towns.
The rainfall will serve this year’s agriculture season following a severe drought that impacted Morocco’s cereal production in the previous season.
