Morocco’s sought-after midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is apparently putting pressure on Fiorentina to be able to join FC Barcelona.
“Go for it now. The future is promised to no one,” Amrabat wrote in an Instagram story today.
The post caught the attention of football watchers, with converging reports and analyses interpreting the crypted message as evidence of the Moroccan midfielder announcing his desire to seize the opportunity to leave his Italian club in this soon-to-close winter transfer window.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the post means Amrabat has finally “decided to put pressure” on Fiorentina to allow his transfer to FC Barcelona.
Several reports, including from well-informed transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, have linked the Moroccan midfielder to FC Barcelona as clubs across Europe race to close the winter transfer window with important last-minute deals.
Barcelona is ready to put a €3 million loan offer on the table with a €37 million buy option, Romano and others have reported.
With the January transfer window set to close at midnight today, the reports indicated, negotiations are still ongoing between the two clubs.
Judging from Amrabat’s message, Mundo Deportivo assessed, “the Moroccan international is reluctant to let Barca miss the train and is pressuring his club to accept the conditions offered by the Barca club.”
The Atlas Lion has been on the radar of many elite football clubs following his spectacular performances during Morocco’s historic World Cup run in Qatar.
Many football legends and observers praised Amrabat’s playing style at the World Cup, describing him as “the fulcrum” of Morocco’s historic qualification for the semi-finals of the global tournament.
In a recent interview, Italian football legend-turned-coach Gennaro Gattuso was full of praise for Amrabat’s commanding presence in Morocco’s midfield at the World Cup, stressing that the Moroccan player “looked like me” at his prime.
