Rabat – With reports continuing to link Sofyan Amrabat to a potential move in the coming weeks, Italian club Fiorentina has emphatically said it is not ready to let go of its star Moroccan midfielder.

Responding to transfer rumors surrounding the sought-after midfielder, CEO of Fiorentina Joe Barone said: “I can confirm that Sofyan Amrabat and Nico Gonzalez are not for sale.”

Amrabat’s stellar performances at the 2022 World Cup put him on the radars of several elite European clubs, with news reports relentlessly suggesting over the past few weeks that the Moroccan will soon part ways with his current club.

In December 2022, Sky Sport reporter Florian Plettenberg tweeted that Liverpool was considering signing Ambrat to revamp its embattled midfield.

“No negotiations now but he is open to leave Fiorentina. Salary now around €3-4m. Price tag: More than €30m! Key player,” the tweet read.
Other recent reports have stressed that Amrabat is more interested in joining the Spanish club Atletico de Madrid.

When asked during the World Cup about a potential transfer, Amrabat said: “It’s a great honor to be associated with those types of clubs. Right now, I’m playing for Fiorentina. I have a lot of respect for my club, it’s a great team.”
But the Moroccan footballer admitted to admiring Atletico de Madrid head coach Diego Simeone.
“He has coached Atletico Madrid for many years… I like his style of play. He has gained a lot and I have a lot of respect for him. The players on his team are physically strong and aggressive. I like to play that way,” he said.
