Rabat- Morocco’s Royal Navy rescued 270 that were attempting to irregularly migrate to Europe. The irregular migrants were found in the Mediterranean, and the Atlantic from December 24, 2022 and January 4 of this year.
The migrants were of different nationalities, including sub-Saharans, Yemenis, and one Syrian national.
In an attempt to reach Europe, the migrants used makeshift boats, kayaks, jet-skis and even tried to swim.
Royal Navy units provided the migrants with first aid before they were transferred safely to the nearest ports across Morocco.
The navy handed all migrants to the Royal Gendarmerie services for administrative procedures.
The rescue operation is part of the country’s approach to tackle irregular migration and human trafficking networks.
