Rabat – The Africa Investments Forum & Awards has named the CEO of Morocco’s Bank of Africa as the “Best African Personality” for the year 2022.

Benjelloun’s company, Bank of Africa, announced the news in a communique this week, noting that the event was organized by an organization called Leaders League and took place on February 7 in Paris.

The bank said that Benjelloun’s winning the African Personality prize for the Year 2022 reflects his “strong and resolute commitment” to support the continent’s development.

Africa Investments Forum & Awards’ jury for the prize included 100 members. The award ceremony brought together an audience of 700, made up of public and private decision-makers annually. The annual event recognizes key players and companies operating on the African continent.

Bank of Africa also won the “Best African Bank of the Year 2022,” an award that the company has received for the third time since 2018.

The award recognizes the “bank’s positioning on the African continent, relying on a powerful network and a presence in 20 African countries covering the five areas of the continent,” the Bank of Africa said.

Benjelloun is considered the 16th richest man in Africa with a net worth estimated at $1.3 billion, according to Forbes’ latest report on Africa’s richest people.

According to the American magazine, the origin of Benjelloun’s family wealth is “banking insurance inherited and growing.”
