Rabat – Moroccan football player Achraf Hakimi continues to garner international acclaim, with a new nomination for the 2022 FIFA FIFPRO World 11.
The Paris Saint Germain (PSG) player features on the list of defenders competing to receive the world’s most prestigious football awards.
The FIFA FIFPRO World 11 is a global player award decided exclusively by other footballers, and it aims to award the current most outstanding footballers.
Hakimi was nominated for the award next to some world-class football players including Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk, and Milan’s Theo Hernandez.
The list of nominees includes the best 26 players in the men’s football tournaments and is based on performances that took place between 8 August 2021 to 18 December 2022.
The FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World 11 squad consists of the best 23 women players based on their performances during the period August 7, 2021, to July 31, 2022.
Last month, Hakimi was featured again in a prestigious ranking, in the 2022 men’s world team of the year by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
The awards recognize Hakimi’s career achievements, particularly during the 2022 World Cup.
While the Moroccan athlete was already famous for his exceptional skills, the footballer distinguished himself in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, leading Morocco for the first time to fourth place in the world’s ultimate football tournament.
