Dear Moroccan women of tomorrow,
I am not going to offer you roses nor pendants, but I will share with you the dream I had of you on the eve of March 8, 2023, the International Women’s Day.
I dreamed, dear Moroccan women of tomorrow, that you pursued your path in the quest for your rights. There was still a long way to go, and you spared no effort to move forward to acquire and consolidate your rights, but also assume your duties.
I dreamed that your power, in strength and dexterity, made Morocco a country eternally proud of its patriots and heroines across its twelve regions and that you armed yourselves against prejudice and every other obstacle in your w y.
I dreamed, dear Moroccan women of tomorrow, that you were no longer subject to rape and that you fought this culture, which was once rooted in society, by rising up against any attack on your character, and dignity, and against sexism and all types of harassment.
I dreamed that you managed to disregard your gender in your decisions and choices and that you ventured into areas never before conquered by women, imposing your conveniences and defending your convictions.
Dear Moroccan women of tomorrow, I dreamed that the Moroccan women you have become are no longer victims of stereotypes and prejudices, and you no longer let nicknames stuck to you and hold you back from getting your venture growing.
I dreamed that your paths became personalized and signed by your hard work, your will, your determination and your Moroccanness.
I dreamed, dear Moroccans of tomorrow, that there were no more school drop-outs in the countryside and in the cities, that public education regained its reputation for excellence, and that many Moroccan women will resume their studies: There is no age limit to study nor to stop learning.
I dreamed that you defended your place in entrepreneurship with supremacy and efficiency and that you even shone with success by demonstrating autonomy and emancipation, foresight and innovation in different fields, from local products to jewelry, gastronomy, haute couture, decoration, parapharmacy, and ready-to-wear fashion. You even mounted challenges in trading, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital marketing, among others.
My dear Moroccan women of tomorrow, even rural women, despite enormous obstacles and hindrances, managed to make a place in entrepreneurship and empower themselves financially, in order to ensure their economic inclusion. The brave new Moroccan woman believes in the possibility of change and progress — the results are bound to be satisfactory, dear Moroccan women of tomorrow.
I dreamed that the representation of Moroccan women in high-level corporate bodies and senior management positions in the public sector exceeded 40% and that salary inequalities significantly disappeared.
I dreamed, dear Moroccan women of tomorrow, that your seniors were role models such as the late Zoulikha Naciri, Aicha Echchenna, Assia Elouadie, and many others who are worth remembering. Those who are still alive are cases to be taught, to be explored, and to inspire you in your lives and in your choices.
I dreamed, dear Moroccan women of tomorrow, that social networks played a great role in your emancipation and exposure as Moroccans and Africans, and facilitated your interactions with your Moroccan and foreign compatriots, so that each of you be an ambassador of her country with all the deference and respect that a Moroccan woman deserves to the values of a Kingdom that imposed respect.
Dear Moroccan women of tomorrow, I dreamed of you as young, beautiful, competent, adventurous, patriotic, innovative, ambitious, and indebted to your parents and your country and committed to providing social mobility for those among you who did not have the same chances to advance.
Dear Moroccan women of tomorrow, I dreamed of you as inspiring, fascinating, passionate, jubilant, happy, and balanced, responsible for your duties, responsible for your actions — truly Moroccan.
God created the Moroccan woman, and you, dear Moroccan women of tomorrow, honor her!
