Rabat – American NGO Amideast and aerospace company Boeing launched on Tuesday, alongside Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communications, the “STEM for Sustainability” program for the benefit of Moroccan youth.
The STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) training and education program aims to “deepen awareness of environmental sustainability among Moroccan youth and provide them with skills they will need to address these challenges,” indicated the organizers in a press release.
Starting in April, a total of 60 young Moroccan men and women, aged between 18 and 25, will participate in the program. It is set to provide “immersion in activities that develop skills in STEM,” as well as integrate problem-based learning with a focus on local environmental challenges, added the statement.
In addition, the program will introduce the participants to career opportunities in the STEM field “through classroom presentations as well as field trips to sites where environmental challenges are addressed through STEM-based solutions.”
The launch took place at the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication’s Youth House Ennour in Yacoub El Mansour, Rabat. The center will host the program over the next four months.

The launch ceremony saw the presence of representatives from Boeing, the US embassy in Morocco, Amideast, and the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communications.

“The programs developed by Amideast and Boeing provide a great opportunity to prepare young people for exciting careers in the aerospace industry, which is crucial for the future growth of the industry,” said President of Boeing Middle East, Turkiye, and Africa Kuljit Ghata-Aura.
Ghata-Aura argued that initiatives like the STEM for Sustainability program “can inspire and equip the next generation of aerospace professionals to drive progress and create a brighter future for all,” in the face of the current environmental challenges.
For his part, Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communications, Mustapha Messoudi, highlighted the “positive impact” that the STEM-focused program can have on youth employment, as well as a positive impact on the local environment.
In addition, he celebrated the “global American company” Boeing’s contributions to the development of youth skills in Morocco.
Meanwhile, Amideast’s Regional Director for Workforce and Entrepreneurship Jennifer Smith, noted that the program “draws on local community support while also advancing the Moroccan government’s national youth development priorities.”
