Rabat – At just twelve years old Moroccan-Italian Ranya Moufidi stunned the judges on the panel of The Voice Kids with her performance of Adele’s ‘Easy on me’.
Her powerful voice impressed all four judges, who pressed the button during the show’s blind audition phase and she unsurprisingly secured a spot in the show’s finals.
Italian news outlet Bergamo reported that the gifted singer took part in the competition to make her family proud, who are very close even if they are separated by distance. She does not see her father frequently because he works in Morocco, but he still managed to surprise her after the performance.
After her performance, her father video-called her from Morocco saying: “I’m proud of you, I’m sorry I’m away for work.”
The talented singer’s performance of the Italian song Ovunque sei by Irama moved the audience and brought some of the judges to tears.
Moufidi, a self-taught singer, developed an early interest in music due to her father, who was also a singer, musician, and seller of musical instruments.
Moufidi is not the first Moroccan talent to reach the Voice Kids finals. In 2018 Morocco’s Hamza Labyad made it to the final round of The Voice Kids competition after mesmerizing the panel with his impressive vocals.
The young amateur singer attracted a great deal of attention from both the audience and the judges after signing a nostalgic song titled “Wahashtini” from famed Egyptian singer Souad Mohamed.
