Rabat – Spanish football club Sevilla reassured its fans that Yassine Bounou has been discharged from the hospital after receiving the necessary medical care.
The Moroccan international goalkeeper suffered a neck injury during a match between Sevilla and Almeria on Sunday.
In response to fans’ concerns, the football club issued a communique, stressing that the Atlas Lion has been discharged from the hospital and that he spent last night at his home.
“Al tests he has undergone have ruled out any type of complication,” the club said, adding that the goalkeeper will continue his recovery at home.
Fans were also worried if Bounou would be able to take part in the friendly matches that Morocco is going to play against Peru and Brazil.
Morocco’s head coach Walid Regragui, however, reassured that Bounou is part of the official squad that will play the two friendlies scheduled for March 25 and March 28.
The coach added that Bounou needs a few days to recover before joining his club and the national team again.
Morocco will play its friendly game against Brazil on March 25 in Morocco’s Tangier. The second game will take place on March 28, with a faceoff between Morocco and Peru in Madrid, Spain.
In a recent interview, Bounou expressed his admiration and pride for representing Morocco, particularly during the 2022 World Cup.
The Atlas Lion commended the family atmosphere among football players that their head coach created within just a short amount of time.
“He gave us a clear idea. He did not have enough time,” Bounou said, stressing that the Atlas Lions met the coach’s expectations.
