Agadir – Royal Air Maroc (RAM) launched a direct air route between Casablanca and Los Angeles today, marking Africa’s first nonstop connection to the city.
The inaugural flight departed from Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca at 04:00 a.m., successfully linking Morocco’s economic capital with the Californian metropolis after an approximate 12-hour journey.
The new service positions RAM as the first African airline to operate a direct route to Los Angeles.
The Casablanca-Los Angeles route will be operated three times per week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, known for their long-haul efficiency and passenger comfort.
“Bringing Los Angeles closer than ever. Starting June 7, 2026, Royal Air Maroc launches direct flights from Casablanca to Los Angeles aboard our Boeing 787 Dreamliner,” RAM announced.
This new route is part of RAM’s broader expansion strategy across North America, aimed at strengthening its long-haul network and improving connectivity between Morocco and major global economic hubs.
The airline has already served several key North American cities, including New York, Washington, Miami, Montreal, and Toronto, with Los Angeles now becoming its latest destination in the US West Coast.
According to RAM, the launch responds to rising demand for transatlantic travel from tourists, business travelers, and members of the Moroccan and African diaspora, particularly ahead of major international events such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Beyond its commercial significance, the new route further consolidates Casablanca Mohammed V Airport’s position as a leading aviation hub in Africa, enhancing Morocco’s role as a bridge between continents.
With this historic launch, RAM continues to position itself as a key player in long-haul aviation, opening new horizons for travel between Africa and the western United States.
