Rabat – Moroccan international football star Lamine Yamal will reportedly miss his chance to play in the elite round of the European U-17 Championship (Euro U17) due to an “indiscipline” act.
The details of what Yamal has allegedly committed under the indiscipline act have not been released.
Spanish football news outlet Sport said that Spain’s coach Jule Guerrero “reportedly decided” not to call up Yamal in addition to two other players who were involved in the act in February in the Algarve, where his team claimed victory at the International Tournament.
During the tournament, the young football player “shone,” by scoring two goals against the Dutch national team in the first game, Sport added.
“Lamine who despite his age (15 years old) is one of the outstanding players of the Under-17s, will miss the tournament that provides access to the next European Championship in Hungary,” the news outlet added.
Yamal plays for Barcelona’s Juvenil A team as a forward and is often labeled as the La Masia star or “mini Messi.” La Masia refers to FC Barcelna’s youth academy.
Despite his young age, the football player makes international headlines as he has shown versatile skills in different positions, including midfield, or behind the central striker.
Yamal, who is of Morocco and Equatorial Guinean descent, was born in Mataro, a town outside of Barcelona.
Spanish football league, also known as La Ligua, labeled him as “mini Leo Messi” in 2019, posting a video showcasing his spectacular and eye-catching performances during the league’s Promises Tournament.
