In addition to hotels, some resorts in Morocco are also listed in this year’s travel awards. Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort and Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay are nominated for Africa’s Leading Beach Resort.

Nominees this year cover a broad spectrum of categories including tourist attractions. One example is Morocco’s Dakhla, which was nominated as Africa’s Leading Beach Destination.

Meanwhile, Marrakech was nominated for both Africa’s Leading City Destination and Africa’s Leading Festival & Event Destination.

WTA decision to feature Marrakech comes as yet another confirmation of Morocco’s status as one of the world’s top destinations for tourism. Cities like Fez, Essaouira, Marrakech, Tangier, and Casablanca have continued to attract millions of visitors over the years.

Earlier this year, leading travel platform Tripadvisor ranked Marrakech eighth-best city for tourists in 2023.

Industry professionals, the media, and consumers worldwide can vote for their favorite travel brands until 30 April in Africa.

According to WTA, the nominee gaining the most votes in a category will be named the winner in the landmark 30th anniversary year.

WTA’s Founder Graham Cooke said: “With voting now open for our key regions of Africa, Asia, Indian Ocean and Oceania, momentum for our landmark 30th anniversary is now building. It is time for you to choose the organizations that are raising the bar of travel excellence.”
