Rabat – Moroccan football player and attacking midfielder for Belgian club KRC Genk, Bilal El Khannouss’ sporting career continues to grow. At just 18-years old the football player won the Dominique D’Onofrio award for Best Rookie in the Jupiler Pro League on March 27.

The Belgian club congratulated the young footballer for his recent award while highlighting that he is scoring “high both at home and abroad.”

El Khannouss’ impressive skills and performances have allowed him to solidify his reputation as a distinguished emerging player. He delivered a remarkable performance during the Morocco-Brazil friendly match on March 25, becoming the youngest player to provide an assist for Morocco.

“At 18 years and 319 days, Khannouss has marked his second start for Morocco by setting up Sofiane Boufal’s opening goal against Brazil,” sports news outlet Breaking The Lines said on Twitter.

The young attacking midfielder’s performance made the rounds on social media with several users taking to Twitter to express their admiration for the young footballer.

Football Talent Scout highlighted that El Khannouss has the most “smart passes” attempted per 90 minutes  in the Jupiler Pro League this season while describing him as an “absolutely brilliant player.”

In January 2023, the attacking midfielder was named Belgium’s Talent of the Year 2022 at the 69th edition of the Belgian Golden Boot award.

El Khannouss previously made headlines for being the youngest player in the Moroccan national team’s squad list for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
