While she wears many hats in a storied and business-driven world, Imane Rmili is truly at home when savoring, and helping others to savor, the culinary delights of Moroccan cuisine.
As the president of a regional federation of restaurant owners, the president of the national confederation of tourism (CNT), and vice-president of the Regional Council of Tourism of Marrakech (CRT), Imane Rmili is an inspiration for Moroccan women who aspire to shake society’s misplaced certainties and cliches about what a woman can or cannot do.
With the world celebrating women today, Rmili’s immersive social engagement and her impressive balance of professional commitments, family life, and associative commitments is a testimony to women’s indispensability to the world’s health and balance.
She obtained a master’s degree at the High European Institute of Management (ISEG) in Paris in 2005, majoring in accounting and finance.
Immediately after that, she made her first steps working as a consultant at the French bank Le Credit Lyonnais (LCL), an affiliate of the Credit Agricole group.
Rmili returned to Morocco to open a medical institute specialized in the well-being of overweight patients. The institute was the first of its kind in Morocco’s famed “red city” – Marrakech.
After her father’s death in 2020, she took charge of the management of the two restaurants that he, Omar Rmili, had left. La RoÌ‚tisserie de la Paix, the first of the two restaurants, was founded in 1949 while the other, Dar Diafa, was founded in XX. Both restaurants are located in Marrakech.
The Joy of Moroccan Cuisine
In 2021, she was appointed president of the regional association of restaurant owners in the Marrakech-Safi region.
Rmili participates in any initiative that would promote her career, especially in her native city of Marrakech. In February of this year, for instance, she took part in the fifth festival of culinary diplomacy in the Canary Islands, alongside the renowned Moroccan chef Mohamed Fedal, known as “Chef Moha.”
In a LinkedIn post about the event, Rmili stated: “It will be a golden opportunity to shed light on Moroccan gastronomy, thanks to the participation of some of the country’s greatest chefs.” She further described the festival saying.
“Moroccan cuisine is an inexhaustible source of inspiration and flavors, and we are proud to share this culinary heritage with the entire world,” Rmili wrote. “This event will give guests the opportunity to experience the delights of Moroccan cuisine, while exploring the cultural and natural wonders of the Canary Islands.”
In January this year, she launched a benevolent project that aims to assist young Moroccan women to set up their businesses and encourage them to fulfill their dreams. To do this, she created an Instagram page under the name “les inspiratrices marocaines” — calling upon experienced women to volunteer in sharing their expertise and knowledge with young women who aspire to succeed and make a lasting impact in the male dominated business world.
