Rabat – The General Directorate of National Security’s (DGSN) Open Days event in Fez attracted more than 1 million visitors between May 17 and 21.
This year’s attendance marked a record compared to the previous editions, a communique from DGSN said.
Friday and Saturday marked a record public attendance, with a total of more than 630,000 visitors who flocked to the event to explore DGSN’s units and equipment used during security operations – including armored security vehicles.
DGSN mobilized 2,300 police officers to participate in introducing the security units to the public and to interact with citizens.
The event’s space hosted 31 thematic galleries, with a “comprehensive overview of information applications and technical systems” developed by DGSN to “serve citizens’ security,” the statement added.
DGSN used the event as an opportunity to allow citizens to explore its modern initiatives seeking to preserve public service and peace.

The event hosted a series of seminars and scientific meetings on different topics, including the uses of digital identity as a mechanism for digital transition.

The Open Days also included a space for blood donation as part of the country’s pledges to improve the sector. The blood donation boot was within the framework of partnership between DGSN and the National Center for Blood.
Over 465 police officers and visitors registered to donate blood.
Through Open Days, which is held annually in different cities across Morocco, the DGSN aspires to strengthen its interaction with Moroccan citizens as well as “to strengthen the openness of public police facilities” to meet citizens’ expectations.
The event is also part of DGSN’s plans to advance its communication approach and consolidate the feeling of security among its citizens.

DGSN’s Open Days came a few days after its 67th anniversary.
On May 16, the DGSN celebrated its 67th anniversary, providing data on its social achievements.
Reiterating its commitment to citizen safety, the directorate recalled its security approach against irregular migration, human trafficking, extremism and terrorism, and other threats.
As part of these efforts, Morocco dismantled 92 criminal networks and arrested 566 people involved in criminal gangs and human trafficking in 2022.
The arrests represent an increase of over 6% compared to 2021.
During the same year, Morocco seized 832 false travel and identity documents, as well as 193 boats and 61 vehicles used in irregular migration.
