Rabat – The US Embassy in Morocco has announced an increase in nonimmigrant visa application processing fees.
In a press release sent out on Thursday, the embassy announced that visitor visas for business or tourism (B1 and B2 visas and Border Crossing Cards), as well as student and exchange visitor visas will see their fee increase from $160 (MAD 1,600) to $185 ($1,850).
The processing fees for certain petition-based visas for temporary workers will also increase, from $190 (MAD 1,900) to $205 (MAD 2,050).
Fees for treaty traders, treaty investors, and treaty applicants in a specialty occupation (also known as the E category) will increase from $205 (MAD 2,050) to $315 (MAD 3,150).
The increase is the first for the B1 and B2 categories – the most commonly applied for in Morocco – since 2012, the press release added.
It went on to affirm that other consular fees will not be affected by the fee changes, including waivers for the two-year residency required for certain exchange visitor visas.
“NIV [nonimmigrant visa] fees are set based on the actual cost of providing NIV services and are determined after conducting a study of the cost of these services,” the embassy added.
