Rabat – The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) has appointed Miki Travel Asia as its representative in Asia to lead the development of its business activities on the Asian continent.

The travel agency will collaborate with the office in showcasing Morocco’s culture, history, and tourism to make the country a destination on the Asian market.

The agency will also partner with leading brands and tourism agencies in Asia, through strategic marketing campaigns and sales initiatives, according to TTG Asia.

Miki Travel Asia CEO Olivier Moeschler said that “the great experience and expertise of the company in the sector will help the ONMT to establish itself firmly in the Asian market and attract more tourists in Morocco.”

Sharing the same view as Moeschler, head of the business development department at ONMT Reda Kelleto said that “the experience that Miki Travel Asia possesses makes it the ideal candidate to develop and strengthen Morocco’s presence in the region.”

Regional Project Manager at Miki Travel Asia Tim Dyer, on the other hand, declared that he is “convinced that Morocco will attract Asian markets as the country offers a mixture of European, Muslim, and North African cultures with the Atlantic Ocean and the Sahara.”

For him, all this offers “a richer experience compared to other destinations” in the region, adding that “as a visa-free destination, Morocco is also more hospitable than Europe.”

To achieve these objectives, the activities to be carried out for travel agents include sales visits and training as well as the distribution of promotional material. The main purpose will be to promote the destination, especially “for leisure and business events.”

Aiming for a minimum of five nights per stay, Dyer said that sales would focus on the cities of Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, and Fez, while bringing exposure to the Sahara region.

Morocco boasts a strong tourism industry, which is vital to the country’s economy. With the sector starting to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, officials are now also starting to consider expansion to new markets to further strengthen the sector.
