Rabat – English football club Leeds United is reportedly interested in signing Moroccan international football player Abdessamad (Abde) Ezzalzouli.
Sports news outlet Football Today said Leeds is ready to propose a £35 million offer to FC Barcelona to secure a deal with Ezzalzouli during the summer transfer window.
Ezzalzouli, who is currently on loan to Osasuna, has made several eye-catching performances in LaLiga, scoring four goals for the club.
Abde joined Osasuna on loan from FC Barcelona in September 2022.
He has made 25 appearances in Spain’s top-flight football league, also known as LaLiga.
“Leeds have been impressed with the winger who has earned seven caps for the national side,” Football Today said.
Sport, another football news website, corroborated the news, confirming the bid that Football Today reported.
The Atlas Lion’s development during his time at Osasuna has cast doubt on FC Barcelona’s readiness to allow his definite transfer during the summer window.
Last month, Barcelona‘s head coach Xavi Hernandez acknowledged Ezzalzouli’s development, stressing that “he has gone to a very good team to progress in his career.”
The coach, however, is still uncertain whether Barcelona is ready to keep him when he returns from Osasuna.
“We’ll decide when the season ends. I see him as a great talent to succeed at Barca but it depends on his mentality,” Xavi added.
Xavi repeatedly stressed the importance of Ezzalzouli as a potential key player at Barcelona.
In another statement in April, Xavi emphasized that the Moroccan football player “is making the most of his loan,” adding that the Catalan club are “very happy” with him.
“At Barca, you need players at that level,” Xavi said.
However, reports suggest that Barcelona is planning on selling many players during the upcoming window to facilitate new arrivals amid the club’s financial troubles, which could lead to Ezzalzouli leaving.
In addition to being key at Osasuna, Ezzalzouli has also made several appearances with Morocco’s national football team, including during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
