Rabat – Air Arabia has announced the launch of new direct flights linking Morocco’s Oujda to French cities Lyon and Lille.
The inaugural flights took place on Wednesday, Air Arabia said in a press release, noting that they will operate on a weekly basis every Wednesday.
“The goal is to meet the needs of travelers, while offering innovative services,” the press release said, adding that the new air route reinforces the airline’s network.
Air Arabia aims to bring the city of Oujda closer to French cities like Lyon and Lille as part of its network expansion.
Oujda is one of the Moroccan destinations that attract a large number of tourists, including locals mesmerized by its beaches.
According to data from Morocco’s airports’ authority ONDA, Moroccan airports including Oujda’s have experienced a significant increase in tourist departures and arrivals.
The upward trend has impacted several airports across Morocco, including the Oujda Angad Airport, which witnessed an increase of 41% in arrivals and departures.
The data added that Moroccan airports exceeded pre-pandemic levels of traffic in January 2023, welcoming nearly 2 million passengers.
