Moroccan footballer Munir El Haddadi has joined UD Las Palmas for the 2023-2024 season.
UD Las Palmas announced the news in a press release on Sunday, stressing the club’s interest in reinforcing its ranks with a “fast and skillful player who has a good clearance.”
“Munir has a great career in LaLiga where he has played 204 games and has scored 40 goals,” the club wrote, also recalling the player’s participation in the Copa del Rey with 31 games and 15 goals.
El Haddadi also participated in 19 Champion League matches, and 15 Europa League matches.
“He is an international for Morocco, a team with which he has played 11 games and scored 2 goals,” the club added.
FIFA allowed El Haddadi to join Morocco’s national team in 2021 as part of its new reforms governing international games and football players’ eligibility for national representation.
El Haddadi joined Morocco after years of appeals from both the player and Morocco’s football Federation. FIFA initially rejected the request due to his participation in an international game with Spain, where he was born, against Macedonia in 2014.
El Haddadi is set to undergo his medicals with Las Palmas on Tuesday before joining his new team for their training campaign.
El Haddadi is laureate of La Masia, FC Barcelona youth academy. He made his debut with Barcelona in the 2014-2015 season, where he spent two seasons.
He was then loaned to Valencia, where he stayed for one season before joining Deportivo Alaves in the 2017-2018 season.
The Atlas Lion also played for Sevilla for four seasons before joining Getafe.
