Rabat – According to results published by the Moroccan Ministry of National Education, Primary Education, and Sport, 633 inmates out of 1372 have successfully passed their baccalaureate exams.
With a pass rate of 46.14%, inmates performed better than other independent candidates, whose overall pass rate stood at 43.02%, indicated a press release from the General Delegation of the Penitentiaries and Reinsertion Administration (DGPAR).
Among the successful inmates, 175 received a Grade Point Average (GPA) ranging from “fairly good” to “very good,” based on the Moroccan grading system.
The General Delegation of the Penitentiaries and Reinsertion Administration commended the passing inmate candidates for their outstanding efforts during this national educational commitment.
It also commended the efforts of all those from the supervisory ministry who oversaw the national university entrance exams at every point, as well as the general delegation managers at both the central and regional levels.
These outstanding results showcase these inmates’ academic potential and their eagerness to be reintegrated into society.
They also stress the value of prison education and rehabilitation programs, which work to give prisoners the skills they need for a smooth transition back into society following their release.

On Thursday, the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports announced that the number of candidates enrolled in public and private schools who passed the exams in the normal and make-up sessions reached 304,068 this year.
This year’s national pass rate stood at 73,99% compared to 78,84% in 2022, with a 4.85% drop.
A total number of 58,780 exam retakers alone among schoolers passed the exams with an attendance rate of 94.34%, the ministry said. It added that the number of independent candidates who sat for the make-up session exams reached 13.025 with an attendance rate of 62,17%.
Meanwhile the number of independent candidates who passed both sessions reached 34,364, with a success rate of 43.02%, compared with 46.99% in 2022, a drop of 3.97%.
